That’s why we’re thrilled to announce our new partnership with Vidinge Gård, a hidden lodge in the heart of Småland’s pristine wilderness.

Built in 1901, the place has been run since 2015 by Johan and Eva-Lena Philip, two real nature lovers who will be delighted to share their best tips so you can make the most of your stay. Expect warm hospitality, a personal touch and a welcoming atmosphere that will make you feel just like at home. Vidinge Gård is snuggly nestled between the ancient forests and shimmering lakes of Southern Sweden and provides a perfect balance between authentic comfort and immersion in nature thanks to its cozy, Scandinavian-style accommodations. Wake up to birdsongs, step outside your door into a typical rural countryside with grazing animals, surrounded by dirt roads, miles of untouched forest and the Alsterån river and lakes. How about sipping your morning coffee while the mist lingers over the surrounding meadows?  In April there is a good chance you’ll spot dancing crane couples just on the other side of the fence.Whether you choose a traditional guest room or an apartment, the experience is all about feeling connected to the land.

Vidinge Gård’s prime location at the heart of a several nearby nature reserves of different characters makes it perfect for all day adventures. From hiking and cycling through enchanting forests to packrafting and fishing in the river or nearby lakes, adventure is never far away. Birdwatchers will be in awe of the region’s rich biodiversity. A high wooden bird watching tower, built by local nature loving volunteers, just half a mile away is free for anyone to visit. There are even binoculars in a box for anyone to borrow in the tower. Seeking quietude, you will find the perfect setting for mindfulness and relaxation. Borrow a hammock and find a spot of solitude somewhere in miles of forest bathing. Why not set it up next to the river? When in season, you’ll also find plenty of berries and mushrooms just waiting to be picked. Tips, baskets and buckets will be provided by the host couple.

You can also visit some of the regional glassworks - Målerås Glasbruk and Persson & Persson are not far away and whilst in the kingdom of crystal you might even want to try glassblowing yourself! Looking for an adrenaline kick? Little Rock Lake offers Europe’s longest zipline adventure, just half an hour away.

At Vidinge Gård, hospitality extends all the way to the table, embracing a true homestyle dining experience. Each day, a hearty dish-of-the-day is freshly prepared from scratch, using high-quality ingredients, often locally sourced. During the summer, meals are frequently grilled over the BBQ, adding to the rustic charm. Of course, allergies and special requests are happily accommodated. Dinner is typically served in the cozy white stone house pub just a few steps away or on the spacious deck that surrounds it. To complement your meal, enjoy a locally brewed beer on tap, crafted by a microbrewery dedicated to exceptional taste. For a more adventurous dining experience, Vidinge Gård also offers lunch packs perfect for outdoor cooking. Imagine gathering around a campfire near a wind shelter, preparing your meal with the soothing sound of the rushing river in the background: a true taste of nature.
